Romans 12:1-2

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (NASB).

Where Life Is in June of 2021

A year after posting my first introduction, it is time for an update. After enduring COVID-19 as a family and as a teacher, the Lord did some pretty amazing things in my life. First, he showed me that if I was going to parent my family well, it started with being around them more. This led me to give up coaching basketball. It was a tough decision, but it has been a great one.

I didn't know it then, but the Lord was preparing me for something big. I started the 2020-2021 school year with a ton of additional tasks as we tried to turn our in-person education into distance education and then into hybrid education. I made it a priority to be home with my family, but the workload was intense. Thankfully, after the fall semester, my network of schools found a way to remove the online portion so I could focus on just my in-person students. This was great.

Sadly, a small Baptist church just south of Sedona lost their pastor. They reached out to me to see if I could help fill the pulpit, and I started preaching two to three times a week for them. Little did I know what the Lord was planning and doing. After the turn of the year, they asked if I would be willing to move to the Village of Oak Creek to serve as their pastor. A few things needed to fall into place to make this happen since the position would be part-time, but the Lord did it.

That takes me to where my family is now. We now live in a home across the parking lot from the church. I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I'm pastoring a flock of dear Christians who love Jesus. I'm still trying to figure this whole pastoring thing out. I can't be more thrilled to see what God is doing in my life, and I'm just trusting him to lead me when I have no clue what I'm doing.

If you ever find yourself in the Sedona, Arizona area on the Lord's Day (Sunday), come and worship with us.
