Romans 12:1-2

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (NASB).

An Introduction from June of 2020

When writing a post about who you are, there is always one very difficult question, "Where do I start?"

For this post, I'm going to start with now, and maybe in time, I'll tell more. But, my primary goal of this website isn't to be about me, but for me to communicate things I care about: Bible & theology, training my family in godliness, education, and social engagement.

Where I Am Now
First and foremost, I'm a Christian. God redeemed me from my slavery to sin when I was 17. I've spent many years since growing and failing as a Christian. I'm a husband. I married my best friend, Emily, on the day I graduated from Bible college. I'm a father. The Lord graciously blessed me with four amazing children: Karis, Jed, Ruth, and Emet. I'm a teacher. I work at a charter school in Gilbert, Arizona.

Education and Work
I graduated from Boyce College and earned a bachelor's degree in biblical and theological studies. I continued my education at Liberty University where I earned a Master of Education degree and a Master of Arts in Religion degree.

I started working in schools as a substitute when I was just 19 years old. Realizing God was calling me to be an educator, I worked with students with special needs in Frankfort, Kentucky before moving to Arizona. I've worked at my current school for six years teaching third and fourth grade.

Ministry
While a young man, I had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer in my church's youth ministry, and it was there that I felt called to ministry. During the latter years of college and the first few years of seminary, I had the opportunity to serve as a youth pastor in Frankfort, Kentucky. After moving to Arizona, I've been fortunate to be apart of a healthy church where I get to teach youth and adult Sunday school classes on occasion.

Christian family

What's Most Important to Me Right Now (and Hopefully Going Foreward)
We are in the midst of COVID-19 right now, and it has taught me one very important lesson: after Christ, family matters the most. I've made some decisions to reduce my workload to focus my efforts more on discipling my family.
